Nice fish and chips. Dogs are not allowed in the take away area but lovely staff who were in her break took my order from just outside the door.
Only 3 people allowed in at 1 time, queue looks big but goes down fast.
A must visit if at the beach in Cullercoats. Haddock fillet is only 30p difference to cod which is a bargain. If you like mushy peas, ask for them to put it on top as you get 5x more than in a pot.
Amazing fresh fish n chips that are addictive. Best around by far.
Oh my bloody gosh! This place never ever fails to disappoint! The cod bites and the chips are the best! Mushy peas can be hit or miss, but make sure you ask for the batter bits and I would always recommend a gravy! Chips and gravy! Cod bites and chips and gravy!
Is a battered sausage a side or a main? I think side!
Used to be good. Now even worst service with expensive prices. To get simple fish and chips meal, fish separate 7.50 and chips separate 2.50 charged. It's not worth that now. Next time I hope
they will even charge for separate items like for the crumbs of the fish, fish, chips, box, picks/forks, oil used, salt, vinegar ... :-)
Seems getting greedy with pricing..
It has been a while since we have been here and they were always lovely so we were looking forward to them. I can honestly say this is the worst fish and chips I've ever had chips were covered in black bits and mushy fish was soaked in oil and tasted realy fishy so not fresh we put them in the bin waste of 20 quid won't be going back
Thought I should expand on this as didn't write anything with the star rating initially. Called in for a quick supper about 6.50pm mid week while my son was with the cubs down on the bay. We didn't have time to go back home for food before picking him up so opted for fish and chips to eat on the benches overlooking the bay.
I opted for fish bites and large chips which were lovely. The food was hot, fish pieces were large, covered in crispy batter cooked to perfection, like the chips. We sat on the bench and enjoyed our meal under the watchful eye of a seagul who didn't get to sample our food. I was full before I could eat all the chips so took the rest home and reheated in the oven later. My husband had sausage and chips which he devoured without complaint.
Got fish and chips today the chips were white I asked if the fish was freshly cooked because they didn't look it yes she replied . The chips were so hard we couldn't eat them, the fish must have been standing for a while couldn't even get a decent flake it was flat and all bit of black bits like the shape of the skin they were absolutely shoking the gravy was so thick like glue never again this is the second time we have been the 1st wasn't much better £11.50 went to the seagulls . Never Again.
Bill's fish and chips are always lovely. The batter is crisp and just the right thinkness. The staff are friendly and welcoming... Definitely recommend.

Quick Facts About Bill's Fish Bar

Bill's Fish Bar has several strengths that make it a popular choice among customers. Firstly, many customers appreciate the quality of the fish and chips. Multiple comments highlight the nice fish and chips and describe them as amazing and addictive. The batter is praised for being crispy and just the right thickness, making the dish enjoyable to eat.
Another strength is the efficiency of the service. Despite the small size of the shop, customers mention that the queue may appear long but actually moves quickly. This efficient service is likely due to the limit of three customers at a time in the shop, which helps to manage the flow and ensure that everyone is served in a timely manner.
The location of Bill's Fish Bar is also regarded as a strength. The comment states that it is a must-visit if at the beach in Cullercoats. This indicates that the shop benefits from its proximity to the beach, attracting customers who are looking for a quick and convenient meal while enjoying their time at the seaside.
Furthermore, the affordability of the fish and chips is considered a strength. One comment mentions that the haddock fillet is only 30p more expensive than cod, making it a bargain. This suggests that Bill's Fish Bar offers good value for money compared to other fish and chip shops in the area.
The friendliness of the staff is also highlighted as a positive aspect of the experience at Bill's Fish Bar. One comment specifically mentions that the staff were lovely and accommodating, even taking orders from outside the door when one customer had a dog with them. This friendly and accommodating service likely contributes to the overall positive experience of customers.
However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer mentions that dogs are not allowed in the takeaway area. While this may be a necessary rule for hygiene reasons, it could be seen as a drawback for customers who like to bring their dogs along with them.
Another weakness mentioned is the hit or miss nature of the mushy peas. While some customers enjoy them, others find them disappointing. This inconsistency in quality could be seen as a weakness and might lead to some customers being hesitant to order them.
One comment describes a decline in the quality of the food and service, mentioning expensive prices and separate charges for various items. This suggests that Bill's Fish Bar may have experienced some issues with consistency and pricing, potentially leading to a decline in customer satisfaction.
Another negative review mentions that the fish and chips were of poor quality, with chips covered in black bits and the fish tasting overly fishy. This suggests that the freshness and quality of the ingredients may vary, leading to inconsistencies in the overall experience.
In conclusion, Bill's Fish Bar has several strengths that contribute to its popularity, including the quality of the fish and chips, efficient service, attractive location, affordability, and friendly staff. However, there are also weaknesses mentioned, such as restrictions on bringing dogs, inconsistency in the quality of mushy peas, potential issues with pricing and service, and variations in the freshness and quality of the ingredients. These weaknesses should be addressed by the management to ensure a consistently positive customer experience.
